The Most Elegant ENGLISH

Every time I log on the K12 forum, I will click the English section, expecting to read some elegant English essays. To my disappointed, I can hardly read good ENGLISH here. Theoretics on English teaching takes the most space of the English Forum. almost all the articles are written in Chinese. well, it's easy to learn and communicate with our dear fellow teachers, but as a English teacher or learner, we need to catch every chance to touch the English language. After all, we can not read too much in learning English. Therefore, we should try to think in English, write in English, and the most important of all, read in English. I'd like to call all the forum visitors to bring more wonderful ENGLISHes here. Don't you think so?

The Real Meaning of Peace

There once was a king who offered a prize to the artist who would paint the best picture of peace. Many artists tried. The king looked at all the pictures. But there were only two he really liked, and he had to choose between them. One picture was of a calm lake. The lake was a perfect mirror for peaceful towering mountains all around it. Overhead was a blue sky with fluffy white clouds. All who saw this picture thought that it was a perfect picture of peace.

The other picture had mountains, too. But these were rugged and bare. Above was an angry sky, from which rain fell and in which lightning played. Down the side of the mountain tumbled a foaming waterfall. This did not look peaceful at all.
But when the king looked closely, he saw behind the waterfall a tiny bush growing in a crack in the rock. In the bush a mother bird had built her nest. There, in the midst of the rush of angry water, sat the mother bird on her nest — in perfect peace.
Which picture do you think won the prize? The king chose the second picture. Do you know why?
“Because,” explained the king, “peace does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. Peace means to be in the midst of all those things and still be calm in your heart. That is the real meaning of peace.”

the most beautiful English

To the world you may be one person,but to one person you may be the world.

Never frown,even when you are sad,because you never know who is falling in love  with your smile.

Don't waste your time on a man/woman ,who isn't willing to waste their time on you.

Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to,doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

Don't cry because it is over,smile because it happened.

And forever has no end.

Life is a pure flame,and we live by an invisible sun within us.

All that is beautiful poems and passages of life

things do not change;we change.sell your clothes and keep your thoughts.

think it over……

today we have higher buildings and wider highways,but shorter temperaments and narrower points of view;

今天我们拥有了更高层的楼宇以及更宽阔的公路,但是我们的性情却更为急躁,眼光也更加狭隘;

we spend more,but enjoy less;

我们消耗的更多,享受到的却更少;

we have bigger houses,but smaller famillies;

我们的住房更大了,但我们的家庭却更小了;

we have more compromises,but less time;

我们妥协更多,时间更少;

we have more knowledge,but less judgment;

我们拥有了更多的知识,可判断力却更差了;

we have more medicines,but less health;

我们有了更多的药品,但健康状况却更不如意;

we have multiplied out possessions,but reduced out values;

我们拥有的财富倍增,但其价值却减少了;

we talk much,we love only a little,and we hate too much;

我们说的多了,爱的却少了,我们的仇恨也更多了;

we reached the moon and came back,but we find it troublesome to cross our own street and meet our neighbors;

我们可以往返月球,但却难以迈出一步去亲近我们的左邻右舍;

we have conquered the uter space,but not our inner space;

我们可以征服外太空,却征服不了我们的内心;

Say Goodbye Again to the Cambridge

Very quietly I take my leave
         As quietly as I came here;

         Quietly I wave good-bye

         To the rosy clouds in the western sky.

         The golden willows by the riverside

         Are young brides in the setting sun;

         Their reflections on the shimmering waves

         Always linger in the depth of my heart.

         The floatingheart growing in the sludge

         Sways leisurely under the water;

         In the gentle waves of Cambridge

         I would be a water plant!

         That pool under the shade of elm trees

         Holds not water but the rainbow from the sky;

         Shattered to pieces among the duckweeds

         Is the sediment of a rainbow-like dream?

         To seek a dream? Just to pole a boat upstream

         To where the green grass is more verdant;

         Or to have the boat fully loaded with starlight

         And sing aloud in the splendour of starlight.

         But I cannot sing aloud

         Quietness is my farewell music;

         Even summer insects heep silence for me

         Silent is Cambridge tonight!

         Very quietly I take my leave

         As quietly as I came here;

         Gently I flick my sleeves

         Not even a wisp of cloud will I bring away

A Red, Red Rose

by Robert Burns

O my luve's like a red, red rose.

That's newly sprung in June;

O my luve's like a melodie

That's sweetly play'd in tune.

As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,

So deep in luve am I;

And I will love thee still, my Dear,

Till a'the seas gang dry.

Till a' the seas gang dry, my Dear,

And the rocks melt wi' the sun:

I will luve thee still, my Dear,

While the sands o'life shall run.

And fare thee weel my only Luve!

And fare thee weel a while!

And I will come again, my Luve,

Tho' it were ten thousand mile!
